Different Technical Applications

Norafin offers a wide range of high-engineered fabrics for special technical applications. Our large selection of standardized and customized spunlaced and needlepunched materials is suitable for e.g. the construction, automotive, shoe, home textiles as well as the packaging industry. Our customers in the field of technical nonwovens are e.g. plasterers, laminators and all further processing industries.

Our fabrics comprise various fiber blends and include not only man-made fibers, but also natural raw materials. The advantages of the polymers used, the various colors and the good MD:CD ratios especially come into effect with special technical applications.

We are anxious to constantly improve our technologies, to be able to answer tomorrow’s needs. It is the only way to support our customers through new, effective and sustainable offers on a steadily growing market for technical special materials.

Automotive

Our technical nonwovens can be used in different fields and serve multiple fields of application across the automotive industry. From the engine compartment, over the underbody to the vehicle’s interior, our special technical nonwovens represent a lightweight and high-performance alternative in comparison to conventionally used components. The advantages of nonwovens are obvious. They offer more flexibility in their processing as they are adjustable and drapable while being firm and durable. Moreover, nonwovens are modifiable in their features and therefore, can be adapted to the specific requirements of their application area.

End Uses:

  • interior
  • acoustic
  • filtration
  • gear components

Possible Product Modifications:

  • processing of various natural and man-made fibers with different diameters from microfibers to coarse fibers (e.g. flax)
  • different weight ranges:
    • spunlace technology: 16 – 500 g/m²
    • needlepunch technology: 60 – 1.000 g/m²
  • multiple structures/patterns
  • multi-layered nonwoven constructions, combining different functions in one product (in one process step or by coating or laminating)
  • different colors
  • various aftertreatment options, such as dirt and water repellent, flame retardant, coated

Acoustic

Our spunlaced and needlepunched nonwovens offer optimal sound insulation, whether for the sound absorption during house constructions, where room dividers and panels as well as floor insulation is installed, or for noise damping in private or public transports (e.g. aircrafts, trains or automotive industry).

End Uses:

  • noise insulation:
    • public transport: trains, aircrafts
    • automotive: dashboard, panels, headliner, parcel shelf
    • buildings: floor and ceiling panels, room dividers, acoustic panels
  • acoustical improvement
    • sound design

Performance Characteristics of our Products:

  • enhanced comfort thanks to the reduced noise level
  • lightweight material solutions
  • high material strength, homogeneous fabric surface
  • good drapeability to cover edges and corners, excellent moldability

Possible Product Modifications:

  • processing of various natural and man-made fibers with different diameters from microfibers to coarse fibers (e.g. flax)
  • different weight ranges:
    • spunlace technology: 16 – 500 g/m²
